About La Jouanade
Built in the early 1800s La Jouanade is a newly renovated traditional and rustic farmhouse set amongst beautiful fields of rapeseed, barley, sunflowers and maize.
Originally La Jouanade was a mixed farm with both crops and livestock. It is set in approximately 2 acres of garden and meadow.
La Jouanade consists of the main house which is where the owners stay. Attached to the main house is a large stone barn which is currently used for storage, although there are plans to renovate this in the future. La Jouanade Chalet is an outbuilding set away from the house which is where our guests stay. Le Chalet was originally part of a functioning farm and was used to nurture young livestock on the ground floor and a grain store above. Now it has been beautifully renovated to nurture our guests!
The gardens are mainly laid to lawn and are south facing, ideal for sunbathing around the pool. To the side of the main house is a meadow which we welcome you to explore and to watch the wildlife and breathtaking sunsets.
The La Jouanade family has grown recently with the adoption of Golly (Goliath) the larger than normal cat! He was rescued from a nearby animal shelter in January 2016 and is certainly enjoying his new home. Although like most cats he spends most of his time asleep.
In April 2016 we also saw the addition of 4 chickens. They are completely free range and can be seen pottering about in the garden eating insects etc.
Then in November 2016 Millie arrived - a beautiful female black labrador. She absolutely loves to play games with the cat and the chickens, although we are not sure they feel the same way! She is now officially an adult but just as bonkers as when she was a puppy.
Unfortunately we don't allow guests to bring their own pets to La Jouanade, but we encourage you to enjoy ours while you are here.
Furthermore if you have any animal allergies or phobias please contact the owners to discuss before booking.
